Stop Motion Animation

Our Stop Motion Animation workshop is a dynamic STEM outreach workshop that seeks to encourage young girls to develop their interest and confidence in technology. Through this workshop, we aim to provide girls in Malawi with an opportunity to learn and create Stop motion animation videos while developing skills in creativity, problem-solving, spatial reasoning, teamwork, and using editing software.

Stop Motion Animation is a fascinating and engaging form of animation that has gained popularity in recent years. It involves the physical movement of objects in small increments and capturing them one frame at a time, giving the illusion of motion when played back. The basic process of Stop Motion Animation involves taking a photograph of the objects or characters, moving them slightly, and taking another photograph. When played back consecutively, the objects or characters appear to move on their own.

Our ultimate goal is to empower young girls to become Stop Motion Animators and potentially self-employed individuals in the near future. The workshop comprises a variety of exciting activities, including animating a simple car, animating a name, animating a flying bird, creating a stop motion animation logo reveal, creating a stop motion animation commercial, and many more.

This workshop is designed to accommodate a minimum of seven girls per session, and the maximum number depends on the available space at the school. We understand the importance of personalized attention and strive to maintain a manageable group size to ensure that each participant receives individualized support and guidance from our expert Instructors.

Moreover, our commitment to empowering girls in STEM goes beyond the duration of the workshop. We aim to provide girls with the opportunity to put into practice what they have learned by giving them access to the necessary equipment. After a girl has attended at least six sessions, we hand over the equipment to her, allowing her to continue practicing and developing her skills at home.

Our Stop Motion Animation Workshop is an excellent opportunity for young girls to engage in technology and develop their skills while having fun and being creative. We are excited to continue our efforts in empowering girls in our community through STEM workshops like this.
